What’s the volume of one drop of water?

ESO II students went to the lab to find out the volume of a drop of water.

If you want to do this experiment you need a graduated cylinder, a beaker, a dropper and some water.

  • First, we have to find out how many drops of water there are in 1mL.
  • We fill 1mL of water in the graduated cylinder several times and we count the number of drops.
  • We calculate the average.
  • Now we calculate the volume of one drop of water. To do that we divide 1mL by the average number of drops.

For example: 1 mL : 28 drops = 0.035 mL/drop.

Answer: The volume of one drop of water is 0.035 mL
